Jet ride
Its been a long tiring flight. Unbelievable the amount of security checks before you can board a flight to the United States. But i must say it was friendly, efficient despite the number of passengers required to be screened. Singapore Airlines (this is not free advert for them neither am i being paid) efficient and courteous service must be recognized when so often nowadays we get slip shod service. Must make a mental note to change my meal preference which i set before i took the flight. Forgot it was CNY timing and therefore a few surprises cld be in store, which was a smoked salmon yu sang served as appetizer and then prosperity fried rice,..i cld only drool when my neighbouring passengers were enjoying whilst i had to finish the asian meal selection i made. Plus the Haagen Daaz ice cream they served as a treat! But that i did get to enjoy. Did i watch any of the movies? Nope, becos i have found it extremely tiring on the eyes plus why do we want to torture ourselves squinting at a small screen when we can have the option of enjoying it on a much much wider screen? I only used the audio becos i found the ear phones extremely useful to shut down any babies, kids squalling noise. Regrettably though i love children, they can be annoying on long flights esp when they are either hyper or their body system completely knocked out with the altitude. And then when you want so much to be able to enjoy all the seats to yourself, this guy one row behind me on the left chose to sit and sleep upright throughout the journey, from Singapore till SF. I think he must be one of those guys who are probably petrified of flights. And he didn't have to bundle himself warm..he wore just a short sleeve cotton shirt throughout! Wondered how he endured the cold air which SQ is famous for on board. Here i was in 2 layers plus a sweater. And my neighbours on the same row? They treated the empty seat next to mine as a dumping place, water, crackers, magazine. Absolutely no consideration. And then the hubby decided to go look for an empty seat after i had to use a propup so that my right foot wont swell too much. He obviously thought i was nuts, but hey, i just recovered my foot, so who cares. I didnt have to explain. I was very good through the first sector of the journey anyways. And then his wife decided to use the 2 seats and lie down, which was fine with me. What was not so fine was when she tried to inch up onto the empty seat where my leg was. And she had the audacity to tap my foot halfway through her sleep to try and get me to take off my leg. Fat hopes lady. I didnt put up my leg for fun. So it became a battle of sorts where i insisted not to budge my leg. Anyways i think she slept pretty good compared to me as she had to be woken up by the stewardess on the meal before we landed. Me, i was sleeping at an angle, with a pillow on the edge of the seat. Thank god for neck pillows, earphones and eye mask. Those tools did help me to doze off not to mention the pill i took to drowse me off. Then we landed..after a long long 23 hour journey. Then to queue at immigration and waiting for baggage. Not too bad. As all it took was only 45min. And i managed to have 2 reunion dinners, one on board and one when i got off at the airport. Not bad eh? Yup, edge over, piggy, the new lunar rat year is here.
