Bootie hunting
Day One, no "bounty" at all, despite trying on at Macy, browsing through the shops at Serramonte. Still not willing to give up, started bootie hunting again today. Was at Hillsdale mall, San Mateo county. I like the practicality of American malls, its flow designed in a matrix of n, s, e, w and only a couple of floors max. Usually one floor. And bright, airy, easy to find stairs or escalator to go up the other floors. Not like the swanky new Pavilion we have, where to find the escalator to go up is quite a major feat for 1st or 2nd timers. Started with Macy's end, so that i cld get my bearing right for my friend to pick me. Tried again the boots on sale, though i already did the previous day and found one which was half size bigger than what i wanted. But since its knee high, it was pretty ok. Then i remembered the magical word.."cld you pls put this aside for me, i will try other shops and if i can't find one, will come back and pick this up"..it was like a magical wand. The assistant agreed and told me her name, obviously to make sure that if i do, she gets clocked on the sale. Then started walking and browsed through other shops. Went upstairs and viola, lots more shoe shops. Tried again and failed. Then through the corner of my eye, i spotted my fav shoe brand shop. In i go and i am jumping with joy becos the boots are on sale. 50% off and additional 30% for that day. Wow, don't take a mathematician to figure the savings maths. And i tried a few. Decided to pay for the pair which back home was so so very expensive. Asked for one pair to put aside. And headed to Nordstrom. Since its one notch up from Macy's the atomosphere in that store is more subdued. The assistants are all dressed up, incl the guys in full suits. I have forgotten this part of American retail distinction. They believe if they market their products one notch up or several up, their customers deserve the very best, from store layout to music, etc. No such thing as racks and racks of marked down offers with hangers crammed and clothes sometimes being pulled out of shape due to the endless shoving by customers and assistants. Anyways, the mathematical figure bugged me and i decided to go pay for the other bootie which i asked to put aside. And the best part of it, they still practice store exchange or credits within a certain period. So if you find another pair which is better or cheaper, you can return it. No questions asked. Talk abt respect for the individual consumer.
