The long long flight home

I had a shock when i reached the boarding gate after the security check..yup, jacket off, belt off, shoes off and then sitting down to wear your shoes again. That process itself takes a good 10 minutes minus the time taken for however long is the queue in front of you. The first shock was yes, the flight is very full. 2nd shock, a couple of babies and children. 3rd shock, many old folks. Wah lah..that meant a very long boarding process. not to mention crying babies, long waits for the toilets. The good thing is the boarding is so systematic by seat numbers and they do check. So no jumping of queue. Forgot, American term...line. I keep saying queue and get corrected. Got on the flight, feeling really tired plus whoozy already due to the cough syrup i took at Melody's home. Managed to lug the hand baggage overhead and then found out the seat i got was a bad deal. It was an aisle seat next to the 2 flight attendants preparation areas for food and drinks. And the pathway was so narrow. Good thing i am small in size. Cant figure out how any other person was going to feel in that seat. I was so fedup and tired i just wanted to sleep. Don't even want to eat..so i told them to leave me alone. Good thing i skipped food becos the flight was so so bumpy the next few hours. Lucky me though, bumpy flight meant like a lullaby, so i then managed to doze off. By the time i woke up, it was a good 4 hours later. Then continue to struggle to make myself more comfortable and to try and sleep again. Its 12 hours only to go SF but its 14 hours coming back, not to mention losing a day. In between fits of sleep, managed to last till HK. By which time, i was dying to get off the plane even though we were told we cld stay in and wait if we want to. Decided to lug the bag, do a change of clothing and freshen as much as i can and take the round about walk to board the flight again. A lady was grumbling to her hubby for making her do this as there was the security check again just to get back on the flight. Aiyah what to do. Thats life. So whether you were seated economy, business or first class, everyone had to go through the same process. The only allowance is that this time you can choose to stay on the flight whereas when we were going to SF, everyone had to leave the plane. I suppose its right. The Americans don't care once you leave their borders. As long as you are about to enter their soil or on their soil, you will have to endure all the security checks. Much freshened, i look forward to some food. Got the same cheong fun/vegetarian breakfast menu i had when we were going to SF. Yak. Never again will i request for Asian menu. And the transit time was too short to even consider snacking at HK airport which was what i had planned to do. Watched "House"to amuse myself, read the papers from back to front and front to back again. Then touch down to Changi. Alamak, another 3.5 hours of waiting. Went to have toast and coffee. Bad choice, because the cough started all over again. By that time, my voice was raspy. Lucky thing flight took off on time. Landed finally. Home!! And praying that my bags were intact. Managed to lug everything onto the trolley..the bags dwarfed me. Hero lah, carrying bags bigger than me. How i managed to lug it off the carousel..don't know. When there is a will, you will do it. And the heat!!! Want to die already, so humid and so hot. From 10 deg C to 34 deg C. Someone should invent a methodology/drinks whatever to adapt immediately to this kind of temperature turnabout. My lips was blood red already due to the dehydration and the fever that started again. My body and mind going through the motions like a mechanical toy. Mother Nature inbuilt mechanism for survival.
